Cellular Digital Packet Data

Wireless access is a very general way or means of accessing the cyber world. As man strives to develop the conceived knowledge, a new specification of wireless access is born. CDPD/Cellular Digital Packet Data is currently one of the advance wireless internet access and transmission. Though speed is one of the most important components of data transmission, but what good does it make if it is inaccurate. Accuracy and easy retrieval of data play a very great role.

CDPD uses some of the idle times between cellular telephone voice calls on the network at 19.2 Kbps at its utmost speed. Unlike MDT (Mobile Data Terminals) which uses radio modems to transmit information, CDPD doesn't use analog cellular telephone modems and make the data intact during transmission especially during bad weather. Thus, we can conclude CDPD data transmission is a lot faster, accurate and secured way of transferring data.

With this quality of transmitting data companies all over the world can broadcast updates to their personnel inside the office or in the field, or a subscription service provider can transmit topics as they are being published, because CDPD supports IP multicast (one-to-many) service. CDPD assigns unique IP address to its recipients and with this address, clients are always connected to host even without keeping constant connection.

There are two methods or means of sending data over cellular telephone networks: Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD) and Cellular Switched-Circuit Data (CSCD). Each has a unique advantage to the amount of packets sent or received, application and geographical speed, accuracy and security.
